Rifle Range
The Hodag Sports Club rifle range is a 350 acre shooting facility located at 5896 Sports Club Rd. Turn south on South River Road about a mile west of Rhinelander at the United Rental Center. Go about a mile south to the sign for Sports Club Rd and the rifle range sign. Go all the way to the end of the road. The range has an orange gate at the entrance. Only club members are allowed to use the range unless there is a sponsoring organization using the range. Obtain information on how to become a member and buy a gate key.

The range has five separate shooting bays. The south bay is a 100/200 yard range for rifle use only. The center bay is a 50 yard range with target holders at 50 ft, 25 yards and 50 yards that can be used for rifles or handguns. The north bay is also a 50 yard range set up for handgun and law enforcement training. The cowboy town range has two shooting bays set up specifically for Cowboy Action and Wild Bunch shooting. The cowboy range is used for organized competition only. Shotguns should be patterned at the clubs' CTH C shotgun range during open hours.

There is a charge if the organization asks to have the range completely closed to the public. If the south range and center range is left open for other club members to use, then there is no charge. Contact the club for an updated schedule.

Sight In Rifles
Rifle RangeThe range is normally not staffed. Two weeks before the beginning of the gun deer season, the range is staffed to allow hunters to sight in deer rifles. Many hunters from southern Wi and Illinois wait to sight in their rifles until they get to the area because the range is more user friendly than ranges near their homes. The sight in fee is $6 and each hunter is allowed to do their own sight in process and come back during that 2 week period if they have corrections to make without being charged an additional fee.

Safe Shooting
Shooters using the range are required to follow all gun handling safety rules and keep the facility clean. SASS competitors are required to use the SASS safety rules and procedures. USPSA competitors use USPSA safety rules. Other shooters are required to use the NRA safety rules and guide lines. Targets and staplers are provided for shooters by local merchants and the club. Please put any brass you don't want in the pails provided.
